Duration 12 MONTHS Job Description: The senior front-end web developer will develop new and support existing front-end XHTML templates for high-traffic, industry-leading, online media website. The candidate for this position is expected to: . code, test and document XHTML templates and assets and assist integration into Vignette, focusing on internal best practices and web standards . possess a strong knowledge of up-to-date web design and web standards: separation of content from presentation using CSS/text-based layouts; cross-browser compatibility techniques; unobtrusive Javascript, DOM-manipulation and DHTML scripting techniques; SEO strategies and accessibility . make informed site architecture decisions, contribute expertise in developing internal best practices and standards and use and develop expanding global code libraries across sites and environments . communicate clearly with the managers and other developers to identify tasks, provide work estimates and ensure production deadlines are met . be able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision . be able to work closely with a team and demonstrate eagerness to contribute to a better online experience Requirements: 2-4 years of work experience hand-coding efficient XHTML, CSS and Javascript for high-traffic websites that complies with web standards (valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional). Good knowledge of Photoshop is required for slicing, cutting, optimizing web graphics for speed and performance. Experience with TCL, JSP, PHP or other scripting language is a plus. Must be qualified to work in the US and must be able to work in New York City.
