*Job Description:* The IBM Websphere MQSeries and Message Broker
Infrastructure Architect role is a mission critical role to support the
DOE’s Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) initiative in pursuit of business
systems integration across heterogeneous systems already deployed at the
DOE. The person fulfilling this role will design the system architecture and
capture long-range deployment plans for the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) in
the ESB deployment roadmap. This individual will coordinate management of
ESB components and the deployment, configuration, and administration of
related technologies. As the ESB adoption rate grows, the person in this
position plays a critical role in gathering and analyzing requirements to
ensure that the ESB implementation is aligned with the business needs of the
user base and that deployed components are optimized to maximize performance
within the ESB environment. This role is a crucial part of the DOE’s bid to
create a Center of Excellence for SOA throu gh our ESB deployment



* Minimum Requirements:
*1. Must have experience turning business needs into a technical
architecture that is scalable, flexible and manageable
2. Must have experience creating implementation plans, operations’ run books
and processes for a successful deployment of MQ Series, Message Broker and
Omegamon on Windows 2003 servers/Linux
3. Must have hands-on experience installing and configuring MQ Series
Clusters, Message Broker and Microsoft Windows Clusters on Windows Server
2003/Linux
4. Must have experience working with monitoring and management tools.
Microsoft Operations Manager experience is a plus
5. Must have experience automating day to day tasks for managing a complex
messaging infrastructure
6. Must have experience with capacity planning
7. Must have very good knowledge Horizontal and Vertical scaling of the IBM
MQ Platform
8. Must have very good knowledge of Storage Area Networks
9. Must have hands-on experience creating change management processes for
deploying applications within the messaging infrastructure
10. Must have experience with integrating Oracle, SQL, DB2 and other major
database platforms
11. Mainframe experience, especially working model 204 and IDMS systems are
desired
12. IBM Websphere MQ Series administration and system experience is a must
13. Wide hands-on project experience with MQ Series and Message Broker
administration and system on Windows 2003 servers is a must
14. Must have hands-on experience working with Message Broker v 6.x
15. Must have hands-on experience working with Omegamon
16. Minimum of 7 years experience in MQ Series Administration and some
applications development/support within a large organization
17. Experienced in administration and support of transaction processing
systems
18. Experienced in Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) implementation and
operation
19. Experience supporting an application software development group during
development project cycles and after deployment
20. Knowledge of C, Java, JMS is helpful, in so far as to be able to support
developers who use those languages and to develop small support applications
to streamline day to day operations
21. Must be able to work on projects that extend MQ Series infrastructure,
MQ Clustering, SSL channels support, Publish/Subscribe, etc.
22. Strong experience in supporting enterprise business critical messaging
through a high available MQSI / MQ Series architecture which exploits MQ
Series clustering and queue sharing
23. Must be fully competent to work under general direction on complex
projects usually on specific assigned projects, issues and problems. Several
projects will usually be active at the same time, so the ability to
multitask is essential to success for this position
24. Strong experience in Performing and supporting problem determination and
resolution, production changes, and maintenance following Problem and Change
Management processes
25. Ability to gain awareness of business or function, for which application
is designed, is important
26. Strong experience with MQ Series Workflow admin production support
27. Must have the ability to produce and provide documentation and mentor
existing staff
28. Good understanding of Networking concepts, operating systems and
applications are desired
29. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must
