*Network System Engineer*
Location: Sunnyvale,CA
Rate: Open: Duration: 6 Months

 The position requires experience working with, and knowledge of, number IT
infrastructure technologies, particularly networking technologies (Cisco),
network security technologies (Cisco and Juniper), IP Telephony technologies
(Cisco), NetApp storage, Windows, RedHat Linux, and UNIX (Solaris and AIX).



*Essential Functions:*

The qualified candidate should have a proven track record of managing
technology hardware, organizing, and working with remote employees.   The
candidate will work with a team of engineers which have global
responsibilities and need lab resources to conduct tests and
proofs-of-concept.   The essential functions include but are not limited to:

·          Inventory management of all hardware and software in the lab.
Develop an inventory management system to track equipment to ensure against
theft and loss and to ensure equipment is ready when engineers need to use
the lab.

·          Setup test environments on demand from engineers.

·          Be able to rack/stack and cabling all lab equipments

·          Develop a basic setup for the lab that addresses 75% of the
required tests environments.  This reduces the amount of time to setup labs
for new tests.  This basic setup should attempt to mimic the production
environment.

·          Develop a remote access system to lab resources so engineers can
access the lab from anywhere, check out resources, and return them to
“unused” state so they can be used by others.

·          Develop test plans based on IT designs that are submitted to the
Lab Engineer.

·          Evaluate and test new technologies, particularly software
updates.

·          Troubleshooting and fix any hardware and software related
problems in the lab environment.

·          Develop standard, written test plans that can be used in the
future for lab work that is often repeated.

·          Work on a project plan to migrate lab resources from Sunnyvale,
CA to RTP, NC.

·          Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including
weekends and nights when necessary.

·          Ability to function in a collaborative environment with a global
team, often using teleconferences.

·          Provide weekly status reports to management, be an active team
member.

·          Escalation support for IT Communications Engineering Team.

·          Create and update design documents with standard template for all
lab equipments

·          Provide support to end users who need to access lab environment
for testing

·          Maintain tidiness of the lab enviornment
work experience requirements

·          4+ years experience in the field of Computer Networking, IT
Security, Telecom, Customer Support Engineering or related occupation.

·          Knowledge of the following technologies: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS ,
WAN circuits (T-1/E-1, T-3/E-3, OC-X), LAN switching, Ethernet (10/100,
Gigabit, 10 Gigabit), Wireless LAN, Server load balancing, IP subnetting and
allocation, VoIP, IPv6, Network Management, Cisco hardware, software, and
product lines, Network security (ACLs, basic FWs, device protection),
IPSec.  Knowledge of Juniper Security technologies.

·          4+ years of Experience with server operating systems – Linux,
Windows, Unix (Solaris and AIX).  Experience with scripting languages (e.g.
Perl, Python, Expect) and Tools such as AD, NIS, DNS, VMware VC, Tivoli,
Opsware, RDP and NetApp tools

·          4+ years of Experience with hardware platform such as Intel,
SPARC, IBM pSystem, NetApp storage, Cyclades and Avocent

·          Be able to manage hardware and software installation, standard
configuration and regular maintenance independently. Hardware includes not
limited to Intel, SPARC, IBM pSystems and NetApp storage.

·          Demonstrated ability to organize inventory and manage equipment
in a life cycle approach (ordering, delivery, installation, maintenance, and
disposal).

·          Strong oral and written communications skills.

·          In-depth knowledge of packet capturing for baseline analysis and
trouble-shooting network anomalies

·          Able to lift 70 pounds as needed.

·          2-year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent foreign degree
preferred.
