This position entails administration and support of all FACL’s Application Platforms and requires an understanding on n-tier system architecture; responsibilities include application server administration, network and system configuration and monitoring, troubleshooting methodologies, capacity planning, scripting, and performance tuning. Responsibilities • Install, configure and manage Apache, Tomcat and Squid application servers in clustered environments. • Provide 24/7 production support of online applications and platforms. • Proactive systems monitoring using existing tools and developing new tools • Develop proprietary tools in Perl, PHP, shell or JAVA, used for troubleshooting, monitoring and capacity planning. • May be required to ceate build automation scripts using Maven • Use various third party tools such as JProbe, YourKit, network sniffers and custom written tools to troubleshoot advanced technical issues. • Use proven troubleshooting methodologies and server patterns to analyze and resolve technical issues. • Document procedures, architectural designs, custom installations and preventative maintenance. • Provide technical assistance to development and project teams as required. • Performance tune Operating Systems, Application Servers and Web Servers prior to production release. General Requirements ? Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent ? 2-5 years of experience in system design, deployment and administration ? Strong knowledge of Linux ? Working knowledge of Java, J2EE applications and web services. ? Proficiency in scripting language such as Perl, Maven or shell scripting. ? Experience in Apache, Tomcat and Squid administration. ? Understanding of networking principles including OSI Model, TCP/IP, DNS, Load balancing, clustering and firewalls. ? Understanding of PL/SQL. ? Must possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills ? Strong ability to assess complex situations, set priorities and implement action plans ? Strong organizational skills ? Must be able to work individually or in a team environment ? Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with management, staff and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning skills ?
