Job Title: VM Ware Engineer
Length: 6+ months
Location: Wisconsin.
Rate : $55/hr
This will require one phone interview and one face to face interview. The
working hours will be M-F 9:00-5:00pm .
JOB DESCRIPTION - DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Platforms team is a newly formed team in Operations as part of the DCMS
group. The Platforms group is responsible for the implementation and 2nd Level
support of Solaris and VMWare systems and is to provide highest service levels
to these systems.
The supported systems are in both Assembly and Production environments with
many running Mission Critical applications with a strong emphasis on proactive
management.
The group supports IBM and HP Blades which will provide a fantastic opportunity
to gain experience of cutting edge technology.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
. Provide day to day technical support for the VMWare based Virtual
Infrastructure, UNIX and Windows environments.
. Provide resource to project initiatives involving VMWare/Unix systems.
Key Skills
. Strong understanding of virtualization principles
. VM ESX installation, configuration and support
. Virtual machine creation, cloning, configuration
. Cluster configuration
. Virtual Centre usage
. P2V techniques and tools
. Resource pools and management
. ESX command line
. SAN storage, VMFS, etc
. Networking, VLAN
. Sharpshooting
. VI troubleshooting
. Performance Analysis and Tuning/Optimization Operations
. Review and/or Problem Resolution Procedures
. Windows server administration
. Methodical and logical fault finding
. Knowledge of SAN Storage particularly EMC
. Solaris 8, 9 & 10
