Location: Hartford, CT Duration: 3+ months Face to face a must Rate 45/hr C-C 3. 1. SCOPE OF WORK Oracle Schema migration, database management, Web server installation/configuration, Web application deployment, testing and production rollout assistance is required in the form of an experienced Systems Developer/Analyst for migration to new web-based SSWR system. 2. Specific Services Required The contractor employee shall provide the following services: * Plan, install, configure and tune the Apache Tomcat 6.0 on a new Web server (Solaris); * Migrate SDWIS/STATE v8.1 database schema using the vendor provided scripts/tools to SSWR v2.1, and perform the post-migration activities for data accuracy, transformation and performance; * Develop test cases and test plans; perform unit, system and stress testing; coordinate the UAT effort with SDWIS program staff and track the application bugs; * Independently perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot the application bugs, system performance and other installation and configurations issues; * Assess application and database resource needs, such as, memory, storage for optimal performance and future growth and implement the needs by coordinating the work with Oracle DBA and Solaris Admin; * Setup and manage ODBC connections from Oracle to MS-Access front-end for standard and ad-hoc reporting needs; * Plan, build and implement production rollout strategy that include final schema migration, application deployment and transition the users to new system with minimal downtime; * Document and transition the system knowledge to in-house developers for post-implementation support; train the end users on the new system as needed basis; 3. Required Skills/Experience Proposed candidate should have a minimum six (6) years of overall experience including - * At least 3 yrs experience installing, configuring, tuning and administering the Apache Tomcat 6.0 Web servers on Solaris environment; * Working knowledge of 3-tier web technologies and hands-on experience deploying and configuring the Web Archive applications (.war) in Tomcat; * Experience writing custom file parsers for converting fixed-length/EDI files to CSV & Java objects; * Experience installing/configuring Sun's Java Virtual Machine (JVM, v1.5) on Solaris v5.9; * At least 5 years hands-on experience with Oracle 9i/10g and MS-Access 2000/2003 databases; this include ability to build scripts to create, modify database objects, such as, schema, tables, views, indexes and procedures; * Experience migrating the Oracle schema from 9iR2 to 10gR2; * Strong programming and development skills in SQL, PL/SQL, XML, Java and MS-Access; Proficiency in SQL tuning; * Proficiency in using Oracle support tools/utilities, such as, SQL Plus, TOAD, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Explain, SQL Trace and TKPROF; * Experience with the Solaris command line: transfer files with scp, set environment variables, monitor processes and logs etc; * Experience setting up and troubleshooting ODBC connections between Oracle & Access; * Experience developing test scripts, plans and strategy; ability to affectively analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues without assistance; * Proficiency in using MS-Project, MS-Visio, PowerPoint, Excel and Word; * Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are critical; * Prior experience with SDWIS systems is a huge plus; 4. PROJECT SCHEDULE & DELIVERABLES Work Schedule: All work will be performed in eight (8) hour shifts, 5 days per week, between 7:45am and 5:30pm on normal scheduled business days (Monday to Friday), excluding State holidays.
