UNIX Application Consultant with Weblogic, Jakarta and java exp Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: 6 months Pay - $42/hr Manager notes: We are not looking for generic System Admin's. Please find candidates who are Application savvy and possibly who have a little development background. If they do not meet most or all of the Minimum Skills, then do not submit them. Some after hours work and weekends required. Minimum Required Skills / Competencies: * J2EE Application Integration Support * Win32 Server Support * IIS Hosting Support * BEA Weblogic Application Deployment/Troubleshooting * Unix Admin Support * SQL Server Admin * Oracle DB basics Required Experience: * Three to seven years experience in a large Windows (strong) and/or UNIX (proficient) experience - system administration and application level experience * WebLogic or other J2EE Platform Experience is a must. * Advanced proficiency with network concepts and utilities including DNS, TCP/IP, etc. * Database proficiency with Oracle and/or SQL Server administration * Prior test or production experience in a 24x7 support environment. * Proficiency with monitoring tools. * Proficiency with Domain administration/AD. * Need to understand conceptually SAN and hardware configuration. * Configuration Management or Version/Source Control experience (PVCS, Star Team, Harvest, etc) a plus. * Display strong inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills. * Be self-motivated and able to meet objectives with little or no direct supervision Job Description: * Application Administrator with Microsoft, UNIX, WebLogic and/or other application server experience. Candidates must be able to provide management of multiple Windows and UNIX applications running on IIS, WebLogic, and Jakarta. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications and systems using stack traces. * Build, maintain, and deploy new Windows and UNIX in-house applications across multiple environments. * Install and configure systems/software unassisted. * Debug system services. * Provide 24 x 7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members. * Provide senior level technical support for Windows/UNIX related project activities. * Build and modify systems to meet project and user requirements. * Participate in design reviews. * Configure and tune hardware and software to insure optimum performance and resource utilization. Education/Vocational Training: A degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
