Job Description:
A Project Manager will, generally, learn and understand Project Management
and performer-resource requirements for Host Computing projects. This
understanding will be translated into managing assigned infrastructure
projects (driving projects toward established date, cost and performance
targets), reporting (producing prescribed and ad-hoc metrics related to
project performance), communicating (with Host Computing resources a,d
Service Providers in multiple locations), and coordinating (with IBSSCs,
Developers, and Portfolio representatives).
Multiple aspects of Project Management and Infrastructure Management are
required to perform as a Host Computing Project Management Specialist.
Project Management features include organization of incoming work into a
non-recurring plan, establishing date commitments, facilitating cost and
performance commitments, risk management (including identifying and
classifying risks), and driving projects toward fulfillment. Infrastructure
Management features include divining a general understanding of Enterprise
standards, controls, organization, constraints, and technical
characteristics, and accurately depicting and explaining (at a summary and
detailed level) associated tasks in reports and project plans.
Job Performance:
A Host Computing Project Manager is expected to be at HQ during core
business hours to be available to Portfolio and Portfolio Program Management
staff. During this time, the following duties will be performed:
Data collection, interpretation, organization and data entry will be
required for custom database, TeamTrack, SharePoint (portal) sites, and
using other tools as needed (mostly MS Project and Excel).
Production of daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as well as creating
periodic reports will be required using database, TeamTrack, and spreadsheet
tools.
Delivery of written and oral reports, including full understanding of
projects' goals, status, and risks.
Coordinating project status with other Project Managers, Service Providers,
Development organizations, and Portfolios including research and information
gathering.
Entry and management of risks into established risk management tools.
Training and communication with Portfolio and Portfolio Program Management
staff to guide them through work intake processes and create expectations
for project fulfillment.
Documentation review to understand project goals and translate them into
infrastructure requirements.
Facilitate and coordinate the collection and completion of artifacts needed
by Host Computing to build the appropriate infrastructure for a given
project or program, including meeting Enterprise Technology Solution
Lifecycle (TSLC) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Understand and support Disaster Recovery initiatives.
Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for a Host Computing Project Management
Specialist includes a Bachelors Degree in business or Information Technology
(software development or an engineering discipline preferred) or
commensurate experience, Project Management Professional (PMP)
certification, and 5 years of experience in delivery of IT Services with
some combination of the following:
Experience delivering and / or managing delivery of IT Operations Services
(support services, system administration, release management, configuration
management, etc.)
Successful delivery of IT projects (with experience managing a schedule and
budget as well as technical resources)
Experience with project management tools, especially Microsoft Project
Experience delivering written and oral reports to management at various
levels, including Senior Management
Experience with IT Continuity Planning
Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) management
