Brent Job Duties: * The Database Administrator is responsible for planning, documenting, and managing database information resources utilized by applications systems. * Our current environment consists of Oracle databases operating on AIX platforms. * We are a 24 X 7 support group and the Database Administrator will have some on-call scheduled. * Future environments may include open source (or other) database toolsets operating on Linux (or other) operating systems. * Tasks include: * Implement and maintain relational databases, including doing performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, problem analysis and correction, and planning and participating in tests for all phases of the application life cycle from initial development through production implementation and operations. * Additional activities may include training of other staff, ensuring compliance with and assisting in the development of standards, policies and procedures, and possible oversight and coordination of other team members. * Tasks may include working with end users, applications development staff, system administrators, management, vendors, and staff from other organizations to ensure successful implementation and operation of our application systems. * Developing logical data models, utilizing CASE or other modeling tools when appropriate * Developing physical database designs by applying relational data base design methodology. Experience required: * 3-5 years ORACLE experience * Experience with SQL scripting * Experience with Oracle database * Good problem solving and analytical skills in enterprise systems * Ability to build relationships and influence others. Experience desired: * Experience using the Rational Unified Process methodology * Experience writing and reviewing technical design solutions * Familiar with Linux and HP-UX operating systems Skills needed: * Provide technology summaries and recommendations to team leads * Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with business and technical resources from multiple organizations and the other members of the team * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities effectively * Use logic, experience and intuition to create solutions.
