Specifically, it relates to the Meridian application, which is a key finance application for UBS Investment Bank. Meridian carries out a number of enrichment and analysis functions on the bank’s General Global Ledger in order to provide reporting data for regulators and other consumers. Meridian is sophisticated distributed system, based on core Java and Ilog Jrules technologies. General Characteristics for success in this role: - Quick understanding of functional requirements and translation into sound technical designs - Work effectively under deadline pressures - Client focused - Team player, willing to “roll sleeves up” - Good problem solver - Strong communicator – identify and document issues - Self motivated and able to work independently *Required Skills:* - 5+ years hands-on experience designing & developing high-performance, java- based applications - Advanced understanding of the *Core Java platform*, including multi-threading, memory management and high-performance IO - Operating Systems: proficient in development & deployment on both *Unix, Linux, & Windows NT/XP platforms*** - *Oracle and PL/SQL* - Good understanding of configuration management, testing and software deployment processes - Familiarity with entire development lifecycle - Object oriented design (incl.
