Location: New York RATE: $500/day Duration: 6 Month(s) Job description This IT division in New York is a team of approximately 100 people in various functions: Development, support, business analysis as well as architecture. We are responsible for all IT services with respect to the Equity Derivatives (DEAI) & Cash And Research (CAR), mainly on the scopes of: * Definition of the information systems strategy, architectures, system developments * Ensures production and system maintenance is sustained at agreed levels HISTORY OF PROJECT & PROJECT OBJECTIVES: The Domestic Stock Loan activity has experienced many changes in its activity in the past 18 months: * The liquidity crisis disconnected the cash leg of each transaction from the repo value of the stock; * Equity-for-equity business was launched in August 2008; * Assumption of Treasury/Cash Management for the SGAS perimeter. These changes have underscored the fact that current P&L methodology is outdated and cannot correctly capture all the aspects of the business. Therefore, in 2009, the goal is to overhaul the P&L methodology used. The principal objectives of DSL PNL project will be to: * Have more accurate P&L reporting for the activity. This is the most important objective. * Increase transparency in management reporting. * Create an application that can more readily adapt to future changes in the business. * Replace cumbersome manual processes. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, programming and unit testing of software project (DSL PNL), as well as production support for released applications and processes. Candidate will also be responsible for performing research on production issues as they arise, and will be required to work with the user community to clarify requirements, validate test results and respond to requests for support. Documentation of all development will be required, with turnover of processes to our production support team. Specific applications development and support responsibilities will apply to front and back office equity finance systems. TECHNICAL SKILLS: * Java, J2EE, XML, HTPP, JavaScript * MS SQL Server * COBOL and/or Visual Basic * Database modeling * Windows and Unix Shell/Perl scripting * NT/XP/MS Office Suite COMPETENCIES: * Clear written and verbal communication skills, appropriate to a given audience, (technical, functional, etc.) * Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a very dynamic environment, with rapidly changing priorities. * Excellent problem solving skills. * Must be able to interact with a variety of teams - support, infrastructure, development. * Must be able to provide accurate estimation of work effort, and effective status to management as well as clients. EXPERIENCE: * Equities front/back office applications experience in the brokerage industry * Full project life cycle experience * Production support experience * Experience providing documentation to both technical and client audiences * Approximately 3-5 years of work experience SERVICES & DELIVERABLES: For DSL PNL project contractor, will be involved in delivering solutions for PNL computation and attribution process, Front Office and ACFI reporting, automation of reconciliations and passerelle processing. For DSL PNL project contractor will be involved in requirement gathering, technical specifications, development, testing and delivery.
