Washington, DC UNIX position Rate needs to be around $40/hr. * *****Direct F2F Required**** *1. General Requirements:* - The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience managing mission critical *Solaris* systems with proven involvement in operations requiring for stringent uptime service levels. He/She should also be a team player with strong technical and user support skills. - The candidate should possess good oral and written communication skills. He/She should be able to present and explain technical information (low-level abstractions) to diverse types of audience (management, users, vendor, and technical staff). - A minimum level of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. *2. Tasks (General Description):* * * - Install and maintain up to date Operational System software, patch levels, firmware, drivers and related program products. Configure and customize software accordance with site requirements. Suggest and promote System Changes in accordance with documented SOPs (Standard Operational Procedures). - Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and first level maintenance of the various application servers, systems and associated peripherals. This also includes adequate follow up on Problem Resolution tracking using the Remedy tool. - Participate in ONCALL weekly shift supporting off hours and weekend activity. - Interact with software and hardware maintenance providers in enforcing adequate levels of support to the installed inventory. - Provide support to other technical staff in performing account management, disk space management, backups, baseline security administration, testing of system features and other systems administration activities. - Produce and maintain appropriate documentation and charts describing hardware setups, diagrams, operational procedures and overall inventory. - Monitor and review use of systems for Bank access control policy violations in line with Bank’s guidelines. - Ensure that the defined decommissioning and disposal procedures are followed for all hardware systems and media. *3. Specific Requirements:* · Relevant knowledge and work experience with *SUN Solaris (8, 9, and 10) software (installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting*) and hardware configurations; intimacy with native frameworks and functionality like *LDOMs and Containers* is desirable. · Relevant experience configuring and maintaining Highly Available configurations *(Veritas VCS), Volume Managers and File Systems (Veritas FS),* OS mirroring and OS replication. - Working knowledge on *SAN and EMC disk* systems configuration is desirable. · Relevant experience in environments supporting Databases (Oracle and Sybase), including intimacy with DB concepts and operations. · Relevant experience or good understanding *of WEB related technologies,* including architectural concepts but also basic operational principles of applications servers, web servers, etc. - Exposure to *IBM AIX ((5.1,5.2, 5.3), and/or RedHat Linux (2.1, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0)* software and hardware configurations is desirable. Virtualization and experience with *VMWare* is a plus. - Exposure to automated Tape Backup operating environment consisting of *TSM/IBM (Tivoli Storage Management) and Magstar/IBM (3494, 3590-x)* is also a plus. - Certifications in any of the fields above are important to the function but ultimately not required.
