*The requirement as follows*: *Job Title: Unix/VMS/SQL Support consultant* *Duration: 6months* *Location: Durham, NC * *Job Description*: Comsys is currently seeking a Unix/VMS/SQL Support consultant for a 6 month contract opportunity Raleigh, NC. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE: The support role with Global FX IT Support team involves closely working with the traders, middle office staff, operation and product control in resolving business related issue within the support team. The candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with the traders and resolve/escalate issues. This is vital role offering an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a large number of FX and Options trading applications. Responsibilities Support GFX IT applications from business perspective. Respond to all user issues/queries within published timeframes Act as the FX team lead by monitoring open issues and ensuring resources are focused on highest priority tasks Provide first/second line application support including trouble shooting issues, leading technical investigations and supporting mission critical platforms in a demanding 24/7 environment Accurate incident logging and tracking adhering to published procedures Produce and maintain support knowledge base and documentation and contribute to the teams increased ability to service the user base Formulate solutions to reduce issue impact on the business users Train colleagues in own sphere of knowledge and experience Share new skills with colleagues Liaise with internal dev teams as well as vendors to accurately report on incidents requiring software changes Track dev changes, perform and document testing and manage signoff through to prod release adhering to all necessary compliance Required skills: Sound understanding of FX and FX Options deal life cycle, from trade entry, settlement, including credit/market risk Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with traders/product control as well as other IT teams. Knowledge of UNIX, VMS, SQL, Access & Excel. Able to perform quickly and accurately in a high pressure and highly dynamic environment whilst adhering to guidelines Candidate must have attention to detail and have the ability to work independently. Suitable candidates will be results-oriented and goal-driven self-starters Prior experience of supporting trading/risk management systems and electronic trading applications SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES (e.g. shifts, travel overseas, hours): Will require Sunday hours WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND: Essential Desirable In excess of 3 years work experience preferably in the financial industry supporting multiple applications. Experience of working in a busy user facing support environment covering varied and multiple applications. Exposure to fixed income securities bonds, and futures.
