QA Lead with Java Application development experience and FIT/Fitnesse
tool exp 

The other major factor is they must have perfect communication skills.

 

Here are some thoughts I had about what I do that is NOT related to
development tasks. Someone who can code at least SOME in Java.(has
developed an application)

 

' Interact with leadership team to establish strategic project goals
across the entire group.

' Participate in planning/tasking of Agile iterations helping to
identify priorities based on established goals

' Coach testing engineers in establishing priorities and strategies to
achieve defined project goals.

' Identify possible testing scenarios to facilitate efficiency and
maximize product quality.

' Participate in testing tasks when necessary, scripting knowledge a
plus.

' Provide technical knowledge to assist testing team with completion of
tasks.

 

o FIT/Fitnesse

o General database concepts

o SQL

o Java Development exp is a must

 

' Work well in ambiguity - there are a lot of moving parts around here
and anyone coming in new to the team is going to struggle with the
vernacular.

 

We'll be looking for someone in a dual role of test team lead and a Java
developer to create tools, utilities and Fit fixtures. Of the two parts
of the role, test leadership is the most important part. I'd prefer to
have someone with fantastic test leadership skills and only average Java
developer skills (if you need to pick between the two skill sets).

 

Soft Skills:

~ Self-starter, takes ownership and dives in to understand the business
and technology.

~ Ability to mentor non-technical testers or novice Java developers in
technology, e.g. java, fit tests

~ Strong leadership skills to lead team of testers

~ Quick Learner

~ Strong analysis skills

~ Strong communication skills.

~ Enjoys working in a high communication, less documentation environment

~ Likes fast-paced work environment with lots of change

 

Tasks will include, but not limited to:

~ leading a team to create and execute tests (positive and negative
tests to verify the quality of the system)

~ leading a test team to understand and apply business rules for test
coverage and analysis

~ communicate results and provide input into test decisions

~ suggest technical innovation (including creating some Java Fit
fixtures, and test utilities) to improve test efficiency when
appropriate

 

Testing Experience:

 

~ non-GUI test experience. Most of the systems we're testing don't have
a user interface. They need to be comfortable testing outside a UI.

~ database test experience, e.g., create and run SQL queries and analyze
data results.

~ experience understanding complex systems and specifying tests needed
to verify the quality of those systems

~ test automation experience. We want someone who understands how to
create maintainable, repeatable automated tests, e.g., creating and
using variables, functions, etc.

~ We're using Fit as our primary automation tool. If they have Fit
experience, that would be great.

~ Agile experience would be a plus.
