Please submit suitable resumes ASAP. * * *Job Title:** UNIX Systems Engineer* *Location: Jersey City, NJ* *Duration: 2 Months* *Rate: Open* * * *Required Skills & Responsibilities:* - Direct the development, configuration, and implementation of new systems. - Modify, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing systems. - Evaluate current systems-related strategies; recommend changes to achieve client goals. - Work with vendors to install new systems. - Analyze and resolve operating systems and applications issues on various systems. - Generate and maintain reports and documentation. - Perform recovery of hardware and software. - Research and evaluate new technologies, products, and services, and recommend acquisitions and modifications as they relate to client application needs. - Coordinate resource usage in a large production environment to facilitate process efficiency and project turnover. - Provide consultation and guidance to management and end users regarding the planning of future additions, modifications, and site developments. - Serve as subject matter expert in technical issues. - Review standards for hardware, software, and applications to ensure compliance with strategic direction. - Resource is needed to supplement in-house expertise in UNIX OS and hardware support. - Will handle eCommerce software installations and environment management, and also provide additional support in Backup Management. Also needed to provide daily, hands-on support for client’s development environment and manage developer environment requests. - *Server Installs* – Will be required to setup hardware, install OS and apply all patch levels, create standard environment and users. - Documentation and Verification – All environments will need to be documented and all processes must startup automatically on reboot. - Documentation needs to be created for all installed software and environment settings. - *Maintenance* – Must be able to maintain environment and roll out necessary patches across hardware platforms and provide adequate documentation to reflect current patch levels. - Needs to proactively monitor and suggest upgrades to development staff and facilitate changes. - *Sun Solaris 10 & 8, Veritas Volume Manager, Cognos BI & 7, Sun One Web Server & LDAP, IBM WebSphere Application and Messaging Server (MQ), Oracle, & Sybase.
