Hello, There is an urgent need for someone with a scientific background excellent communication skills and strong. This role is located in New Haven, CT. Face to face may be required Must have LIMS experience Job Summary In this 3 month contract position you assist with the development and maintenance of an externally developed LIMS (laboratory information management system) written in VB and PL/SQL. You will be using your strong PL/SQL programming skills, database modeling skills and scientific knowledge in genetics to develop new functionality, troubleshoot, fix issues that encountered within the system. You will also communicate with users/operators of the system IS staff and the vendor that developed the system. Strong communication skills are required. Essential Functions and Duties (4-10 bullet points) * Gather functional requirements from operations, translate the requirements into database design. * Highly motivated individual who works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Qualifications Education BS degree in IT, CS or Genetics. Experience * Ability to explain and articulate complex technical issues Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (language, technical, communication, etc.) * Strong PL/SQL skills. * Must have excellent analytical and problem solving abilities. * Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. * Knowledge of VB/Java a big plus. * 5+ years experience with Oracle RDBMS 9i and/or 10g * Experience with developing LIMS systems and knowledge of genetics required * Strong PL/SQL development experience (SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views) * Database design experience with knowledge of data normalization, referential integrity, indexing and database sizing * Proficiency with query optimization * Experience with data modeling software such as Erwin or PowerDesigner * Experience developing scalable transactional systems * Strong written and verbal and communication skills * Develop and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, triggers and views using sound design principles. * Maintain Schema changes across different applications preferably using a model design tools. * Work with the development team to optimize database access within the applications. * Code testing and report of issues back to end users and vendor.
