* Very strong in core Java skills preferably with SCJP certification * Significant work experience in enterprise-class applications preferably in the financial industry. Hands-on experience on high-volume transactional systems running on UNIX/Linux is desirable. * In-depth knowledge of multithreading and the Collections API in Java. Hands-on experience on debugging, profiling (including remote profiling), refactoring etc. * Good database knowledge. Proficiency in writing SQL queries and query tuning. * Working knowledge of UNIX shell scripts. Expert knowledge is a good-to-have. * Experience on maintaining, tuning and reengineering large legacy java code bases is desirable.
