Please find the requirement and send me the resumes with the contact details ASAP to [email protected] Our client is looking for a Unix/Linux Support Specialist to join its team which focuses on supporting Unix and Linux environments and associated applications used in research. Previous experience in a customer/application support role in a research, academic, or engineering environment is required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support users of the applications by ensuring updates are performed, solving functional problems with the applications in a timely matter, and heeding the priorities of the user community. * Install applications according to established standards and processes to enable execution on IRIX servers and workstations; and Linux servers, server farms, and desktops. * Analyze and troubleshoot problems related to vendor and custom software applications in the Unix/Linux environment. * Coordinate with the Unix/Linux Infrastructure and Moab specialists to ensure successful completion of application evaluation projects and application upgrades * Coordinate with application development teams to gather requirements and recommend the optimal configuration for application servers and storage. * Create realistic testing scenarios and scripts to use before and after equipment and software version upgrades * Participate in the creation of system and support documentation for supported applications and applicable support processes REQUIREMENTS: * 5 to 10 years as an administrator of applications in a Unix/Linux environment * 2 to 3 years experience in a customer/application support role in a research, academic, or engineering environment * Working knowledge of Shell, Perl, VI, emacs, csh, gtk, gnome, kde * Excellent communications and customer service skills * Proven problem solving/troubleshooting skills * Demonstrated understanding of the principles and technologies associated with installation, maintenance, and integration of servers and applications in an enterprise environment. * Experience with computing clusters, specifically Beowulf. * BS in chemistry, biology or other scientific/engineering discipline, BS or equivalent certifications in Unix, Linux, system administration, and related technologies.
