Application Architect specialized in mainframe and J2EE architecture . -
contractor based in Minneapolis Contract period - 6 to 12 months. Systems
Architect 5 with strong technical and communication skills. Participates in
the design and development of business and system architectures. Responsible
for working highly complex architectural impact projects and directing
implementation of the architecture for a single or multiple applications or
system components. Assists senior architects with conducting complex technology
and system assessments for component architecture and may participate in
enterprise architecture activity. Provides technical and systems consultation
to internal clients and technical management to ensure alignment with
Enterprise Architecture. Exposure to agile or similar kind of iterative
development process. Acts as a technical expert on the design and development
of highly complex, large-scale mainframe applications on Z/OS and very good
exposure to DB2, JCL, COBOL, MQ on mainframe. Application tuning experience
especially with DB2 is a plus. Also acts as an architect for internet
applications on Unix/Linux platform Uses expert knowledge of web technologies,
including Java, Java Script, HTML, XML, Perl, multimedia applications,
database modeling tools and/or database interactions. Evaluates systems
specifications for client area web site requirements and determines and
implements the most efficient and cost-effective software/package solution.
Does researching and tracking new web technologies, developing applications,
and analyzing business requirements as they pertain to web-based systems. Able
to learn new technologies on the job.

This position is primarily a SQL Server DBA (5-10 years experience), but has
also done Oracle DBA (2-5 years experience), with experience in a production
environment. It is both, and I'm not looking for a SQL Server DBA who has
worked with Oracle here and there, they must have full Oracle DBA hands-on
experience for at least 2 years. The environment is SQL Server 2005 and Oracle
9i/10g. SSIS/SSRS is NOT required, but experience is preferred and a nice to
have.

Communication: This person's communication has to be excellent. If you think
verbal communication is a 10/10, I want to see an 11/10. The client will not
face-to-face interview someone who does not communicate clearly during a phone
interview. Hence, I will not pursue a candidate who does not communicate
clearly when I speak with them. This person will be interacting with different
development and infrastructure groups, so the ability to communicate thoughts
and ideas clearly is key being the SQL Server/Oracle Resource.
