Hardware Testing & Support Engineer

Junior level Hardware Tester & Support Engineer
. Testing of hardware, peripherals and associated equipment.
* Independent and diligent work practices in completing work in a
timely manner.
* Proposing new solutions to problem areas.
* Monitoring of work tasks, and reporting on statuses of those
tasks to management.
* Planning and implementing redundancy to future or next
generation technologies in ways that meet business needs.
* Perform and configure port-based, protocol-based, and MAC-based
VLANs.
* Provide Juniper, Extreme Networks, and Cisco switch
architecture, configuration, installation, backup/recovery, and
monitoring.
* Perform diagnostics on the Cisco, Juniper and Extreme switches,
Command Line Interface structure
* In depth knowledge of other switching hardware and software
products.
* Develops configures for the switch for management access,
navigate the command interface, and save the switch configuration.
* Responsible for configuring port parameters, layer-2 forwarding,
and port load sharing.
* Should be able to configure static IP forwarding and IP routing
functions.
* Provide and perform basic troubleshooting steps for layer-2 and
layer-3 networks.
* Updates relevant documentation supporting and briefly describe
Cisco, Juniper & Extreme advanced features.
* System documentation for troubleshooting, business continuity,
and maintenance.
The candidate should have at least 2 years experience in computer
hardware implementation, troubleshooting, and support.
Experience in router VLANS (ex. Cisco/Juniper), switch and IP peripheral
device (ex. Digi/RuggedCom) implementation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting support.
* Knowledge of the dynamic routing protocol Open Shortest Path
First (OSPF) and the exterior gateway protocol known as Border Gateway
Protocol (BGP)
* Experience with 802.11G wireless implementations and support
* Experience with frame relay, T1, etc. leased line
telecommunications.
* Experience with serial communications (RS-232, RS-422 and
RS-485)
* Knowledge of Windows/Linux platform operations,
hardware/software functions and capabilities.
* Knowledge of video encoders/decoders over IP
* Experience with video control software in web and client server
environments
* Ability to translate technical terms into layman's language, and
communicate both technical and non-technical information orally and in
writing.
* Knowledge of systems implementation to include three tier
redundancy, disaster recovery strategies and failover strategies.
