Position: DATABASE SYSTEM ENGINEER Consultant Location: Plano, TX Duration: 6 Months with possibility if extension Rate: 40 $/hr AI Start Date: ASAP Positions: One Resumes should clearly articulate Database System Engineer related tasks and activities. If the resumes just portray DBA work are rejected Responsibilities: Designs and builds relational databases. Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. Cleans and maintains the database by removing and deleting old data. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2 - 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must have a working knowledge designing, developing and manipulating databases, data warehouses and multidimensional databases. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Job Description: Database System Engineer (not a DBA), Oracle DBA experience - on both Intel and Unix (HP / AIX) Installing Oracle Upgrading oracle, Oracle RAC experience on Linux in a large shop, with a large deployment Backup / recovery using RMAN Performance tuning Can demonstrate previous implementation of proactive monitoring of a database Unix Korn shell scripting Perl scripting Excellent communication skills Required: Oracle, Perl Desired: HP Openview, SQL, Teradata, UNIX Optional but nice to have: Database Design DB2 / UDB DBA / engineering experience SQL Server DBA / engineering experience Teradata DBA / engineering experience Veritas netbackup experience HP Openview experience Qualifying Question: Please rank your PERL skill on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the strongest).
