Project Description: Our direct client seeks a Systems Engineer to play an active role in the design, build-out, monitoring, and maintenance of the system, network, and operational components of a high-transaction, international e-commerce platform. The Systems Engineer will work with other domestic and international IT units to deliver and maintain the system, network, operational, and mission-critical infrastructure necessary to run a high-transaction, international e-commerce platform across multiple data centers globally. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Hands-on role in the planning, design, build-out, and maintenance of the system/network infrastructure, and operational enhancement and performance/availability of multiple transatlantic WANs and Datacenters that are responsible for supporting the e-commerce platform of a multi-billion dollar international company - Hands-on role in all mission-critical network and systems infrastructure that support the above-mentioned e-commerce platform across the different WANs and Data Centers. This also includes planning, design, building, implementation, and operation of Disaster Recovery infrastructure as per SLA or Business Continuity Plan. - Work closely with a team of (US and International) network, system, and desktop engineers who are responsible for supporting the above-mentioned e-commerce platform; collaborate and align tactical and strategic goals with various IT units (Application, DBA, QA, mainframe, telecom, etc), both in the US and internationally; responsible for creating technical project plans and meeting project deliverables on-time and on-budget - Must be available 24/7 and must respond to operational escalation alerts of the above-mentioned systems, platforms, and infrastructure. The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for office (desktop) support of Online Technology staff. - Work with various 3rd-party providers, vendors, and leases Required Skills: - 3+ years experience as systems engineer working in a high volume e-commerce network and systems environment and team - this should include 24/7 operational, on-call support availability. - Extensive experience building and configuring Windows (2000/2003), as well as Web Servers (IIS) and Network Monitoring Systems; strong experience building out mission-critical virtual environments (VMWare and Virtual Server) is also required - Extensive TCP/IP design and analysis expertise, and strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SSL, VPNs, and remote monitoring/administration of servers - Extensive knowledge of Cisco PIX Firewalls, Switches, Routers, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), Netscaler Switches, and Akamai edge caching - Solid communication and negotiation skills will 3rd party vendors, and strong collaboration skills with various IT units, both in the US and internationally Other Information: Assist our client's engineering group in multiple AD initiatives. The required candidate should have vast experience in the administration of multi-domain, multi-site environments. The majority of this role hinges around but is not limited to the intra-domain migration of AD and said experience is an absolute must.
