Here is a Direct Client requirement for Senior level Solaris Systems
Administration.
Location: Austin, TX
Bill Rate: Negotiable
Duration: 12+Months Extendable
A. Senior level knowledge and experience in Solaris server
administration in a large distributed 7x24 systems environment.
B. Knowledge and experience in supporting a redundant client server
environment that utilizes data clustering technologies such Veritas Cluster
Server, Knowledge and experience with server virtualization technologies
like Solaris Zones, containers and LDOMS.
C. Ability to create, analyze and troubleshoot scripting languages
such as C-shell, K-shell and PERL. Troubleshooting experience using
monitoring software and unix utilities to isolate and resolve server
performance and tuning issues.
D. Design, develop and implement processes, procedures and
documentation for updating and maintaining servers in a distributed systems
environment.
E. Should have strong time management skills and have a commitment to
continual improvement of the technical aspects of data processing.
F. General TC/IP and network unix protocol and trouble shooting skills
such as NIS, DNS, NFS, and LDAP.
G. Must be able to work independently but also be able to work well as
a team member.
H. Provide architectural support for n-tier client server
environments.
I. Position requires 24x7 on-call pager with rotation with other team
members.
J. Other duties as assigned.
II. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
+5 Senior level Solaris (9/10) systems administration
+5 Experience in creating and troubleshooting complex shell
Boerne and K-shell
+5 Hands on experience with system monitoring tools, scripts
unix commands which permit tuning of servers and system applications for
maximum efficiency
+5 Experience planning, implementing and maintaining OS and
Firmware patching levels to include system applications and scripts
upgrades.
+5 Strong troubleshooting skills, problem detection using
centralized logging for problem identification and analysis
+5 Working in 24X7 on call pager rotation environment
+3 Experience with change management software and processes
to report and resolve issues.
+3 Experience with Symantec Storage Foundation suite
DiskSuite & Volume manager, VERITAS cluster server.
+2 Hands on experience with Solaris Zones which include ZFS
file systems, storage pools, snaps, clones and containers.
+2 Experience with Solaris LDOMS
+2 Strong analysis skills capacity planning, trending to
address future growth needs
Strong Possess good oral and written communication.
Strong Possess good technical and process documentation skills
Preferences:
Years Skills/Experience
+2 Knowledge of automation concept of deployment
processes procedures.
+2 Windows 2003 and above administration
experience.
+2 Experience with Active directory , Domains and
DNS
+2 Administration experience with the following
monitoring applications I3, Wily, Big Brother, Nagios, ITCAM or Hobbit/Xymon
