RATE/hr The client is in financial industry This is a senior-Level Position
on the Server Engineering team, which provides 3rd level support of UNIX /
Linux servers primarily in the Livingston corporate Data Center. Although
some support for field sites is required from time to time. The candidate
will be responsible for administering the corporate UNIX server farm and
providing Subject Matter Expertise including: • Perform Level 3 (L3) UNIX /
Linux system administration. • Ensure the operational reliability and
effectiveness of the enterprise UNIX / Linux server infrastructure. •
Perform problem determination and resolution of infrastructure-related
interruptions utilizing internal and external resources as appropriate. •
Work to constantly improve service offerings, service
availability/performance, and overall customer experience. • Project plan
preparation and administration, adherence to committed deliverables, and
regular communication of progress to management. • Implement technology
solutions to optimize the global information delivery process worldwide. •
Monitor infrastructure performance, anticipating and proactively responding
to capacity, recovery, and business continuance issues. • Recommend and
maintain policies, procedures and standards relevant to the technology
infrastructure. • Mentor peers and customers on new technologies. • Closely
adhere to the Service Desk, Change Management, and Security policies and
procedures. • Interface with the Auditors and Information Security to
address any UNIX / Linux server compliance issues. • Develop and improve
standard processes and procedures. • Participate in the periodic execution
of the business continuance plan, including scheduling, coordination, and
documentation updates. • On-call rotation schedule for after-hours support.
This candidate should possess the following: • 7+ Years of UNIX and Linux
administration experience. • Experience working for financial services or
banking organizations is a plus. • Operating system experience (required):
HP-UX, Solaris, and Linux (RHEL). • Hardware experience: HP 9000 (PA-RISC),
HP Integrity (Itanium), and SUN SPARC based UNIX servers and peripherals. •
Packaged Software experience (required): NetBackup, Oracle, Microsoft
Office, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio. • Packaged Software
experience (nice to have): Sybase, HP OpenView, Nagios, and Symark tools. •
Strong shell or Perl scripting capability. • Networking experience:
Ethernet, TCP/IP. • Storage experience: EMC (required) and NetApp (a plus).
• Strong engineering capabilities including requirements and impact analysis
• Must be flexible and have the ability to work well within a team. • Strong
customer service skills. • Intermediate project management skills. •
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong process
documentation skills. • Ability to manage detailed tasks efficiently and
effectively. • High school diploma/GED equivalent. College degree a definite
plus. • Experience performing formal product evaluations. • Ability to
multi-task effectively. • Ability to work with diverse groups. • Ability to
work after normal business hours and on weekends as required.
