This is Jaya from IT Trailblazers. We have an immediate
requirement for a Technical Specialist.
Location : Silver Spring; MD.
Position : 6 months+
Rate: max $30/hr
Prefer candidates local to MD, or who can go for face to face interview.
Gather, analyze, and document requirements and specifications, and monitor
the progress of new and existing short-term IT support issues. Work
include problem analysis and root cause identification, coordinating
activities, tracking progress and results, outlining design approach and
making adjustments within the constraints, and resolving pending issues.
Install, configure and troubleshot enterprise applications. Assist users
and diagnose issues as required, provide solution in identifying and
fixing system crashes, network connectivity and performance issues.
Perform application system maintenance and troubleshooting, and document
root cause.
Strong technical, analytical, problem solving, communication skills, and
extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
administration, SQL databases. Experience with ITIL/SDLC is a must.
Skills:
• Identify and troubleshoot technical problems and issues as they arise
• Escalate issues to third level support in a timely manner.
• Provide round the clock support for changes and problem management.
• Monitor assigned applications for performance and issue prevention.
• Work with vendor to acquire patches, system test, and install new
releases.
• Restart application services and validate applications after reboots, as
needed.
• Field ‘How To’ and usage type questions.
• Gather information from Business Partners and others for problem
analysis and whatever else is needed to reproduce reported application
issues
• Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying problems.
• Support VPN and firewall configurations.
• Coordinate activities with other KPIT groups, application vendor, and
other third party providers, e.g. credit card processor, Citrix support,
and Database Administrators.
Technical Specialist is expected to have extensive knowledge and
experience in:
• Administration, implementation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and
restoration of software applications in a distributed environment.
• Configuration, troubleshooting of Windows 2003 Servers, Active
Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, VPN, VMWare Virtual Infrastructure, etc.
• Installation and configuration of IIS and WebSphere, and managing
.NET/J2EE business applications.
• Working knowledge of MS SQL server and Oracle databases.
• Server patch management and monitoring tools (e.g. Tivoli, SMS 2007,
SCOM 2007, MOM 2005, etc.)
• ITIL standards and best practice.
• Microsoft Cluster Services, Windows security, and Citrix servers.
