Citizens & GC only Position : Unix Senior Systems Engineer Consultant Location : Columbia, MD, Project duration: 6+ months I have attached below a detailed job description. This position is to help deploy web applications. Must have experience configuring JBOSS and APACHE. Must have administration experience, but need to have a lot of application experience as well. Unix - could be solaris on Linux The candidate must possess technical leadership skills and the ability to work in a 24 x 7 production environment. A professional who is customer focused, team oriented, creative, and diligent. He or she also needs to have the ability to balance priorities, manage time, and complete projects/tasks within set deadlines. On a daily basis, candidate is responsible for supporting mission critical systems, install/configure new applications, and maintain existing applications. The candidate must be able to troubleshoot problems, design solutions, and administer UNIX servers in a cross-platform environment. The professional needs to support 3rd party and java based applications. In addition, he or she needs to be familiar with shell scripts to automate system processes and daily tasks. Also, the candidate must have in-depth system/applications architecture and design experience to the team. Required skills: . Excellent knowledge of systems architecture . Excellent troubleshooting skills . Strong communication skills . Self motivated, works independently . Excellent analysis, project planning, and schedule estimation . Team leadership ability Required areas of experience: . B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent job experience . 10+ years of UNIX system administration . 5+ years of system engineering . 5+ years of UNIX shell scripts . Expert knowledge of UNIX/Linux Operating Systems . Experience with web applications such as Apache . Experience with java based applications such as JBoss . Experience with network protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, BOOTP, NTP, etc. Useful areas of experience: . Experience with Highly Available or Clustered Systems . Microsoft Windows administration . LDAP administration . DNS administration . Sendmail administration . Working knowledge of XML .
