Data Warehousing Architect 
Location: Jefferson Building, Washington DC

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

*       Proven architectural experience for a Data Warehousing project
(minimum 3 years) 
*       Proven experience in translating system architecture to specific
design decisions 
*       Full knowledge of data warehouse design concepts and development
best practices 
*       Proven experience with database technologies, data architecture,
data analysis, and modeling 
*       Practical experience with common architectural patterns and
principles for data warehousing and reporting projects 
*       Communication skills that earn trust, motivate, persuade, and mentor

*       Proactive and goal-oriented with a focus on results 
*       Solid working knowledge of requirements management principles and
techniques 
*       Practical experience with common modeling and development tools
(e.g. ERWIN, Informatica, Oracle) 
*       Bachelor's degree in Management of Information Systems, Computer
Science or Engineering (Master's degree preferred) 

  
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

*       Prior healthcare industry experience preferred (e.g. HIPPA
Compliance Standards) 
*       Informatica 
*       COGNOS 
*       Oracle 10G 
*       Vendor Package / Product evaluation, selection, integration and
design 
*       Web architecture and design 

  
DESCRIPTION: 

*       Provide overall technical architecture and design leadership for
projects 
*       Identify and document architecturally significant aspects of
proposed solutions 
*       Balance needs of "speed to market" with software quality
requirements and supportability and sustainability of proposed solution 
*       Ensure that the designs are consistent with the overall architecture

*       Ensure that significant design decisions are communicated,
validated, and adhered to 
*       Provide rationale for design decisions 
*       Assist with detailed system design to a point where implementation
can proceed 
*       Collect and deliver best design practices across projects (e.g.
decoupling and reuse) 
*       Guide consistent use of software engineering methodology within the
development community 
*       Participate in BCBSM internal quality review 
*       Represent the architecture group to senior management, business
partners and architectural group
