Duration: 6+ months Location: San Francisco CA Rate : Open Web engineer position that will have some support duties as the owner of a specific project/platform environment. This environment is currently a RH 5 OS with tcServer (Tomcat). Running on VMWare in PreProd, however it will run on bare metal in production. Backend is an Oracle RAC on Solaris however support for this system is not expected. This person will be expected to help with design, documentation of standards, working out deployment models, etc. This resource will be expected to help out on other projects my team is working on also, as time permits. primary focus is on OS, HW and middleware standards and high level escalations. We are also an engineering team supporting internal monitoring tools and in-house applications from a engineering perspective, not a support perspective. We are looking for a Senior Engineer who can work on an Infrastructure Engineering team. You will be frequently be the single point of contact throughout the project life cycle of several key initiatives and will be expected to provide leadership and consultation on those projects from inception to implementation. This may involve work with Sparc and X86 hardware, Solaris and RH Linux, Weblogic, Tomcat and various applications and tools. Attention to detail and documentation skills are critical for this position. In addition, you may be called on to provide support and training for your projects. Key Skills: Very good understanding of RH Linux and X86 hardware Experience with VMWare Experience with Tomcat and Java Very good understanding of Solaris OS and Sparc Hardware, including LDOMs and Containers. Ability to evaluate new technologies and recommend changes to existing standards . Very strong documentation and communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be expected to document and communicate your projects to multiple groups at all steps along the way in order to ensure agreement. Ability to comprehend complex issues and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
