Title: Front End Web Developer Location: Seattle, WA Duration: 6 Months ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participates in requirements analysis and definition. Designs, writes, and develops Java applications. Performs design activities including: database structure design, screen / reports layout. Involved in full development life cycle, which includes: User requirements, user design, technical design, detailed design, programming, testing, production, documentation, implementation and support. Resolves technical issues and researches best practices for the monitoring, support, maintenance, and implementation of applications. Works closely with the product manager for a Java-based Internet content management platform. Prepares code documentation in support of program development. Creates and maintains system specification and sub-system specification documentation. Works with the database group, the computer operations group, the network group and IC staff to coordinate the implementation of: new processes, changes to existing systems, and the resolution of ongoing application issues. Conducts technical 'hands on' implementation work and liaison with support and testing departments. Troubleshoots and debugs program and computer systems problems. Performs program and system enhancements and provides quality assurance. Stays abreast of state-of-the-art programming techniques, implements them, and advocates their implementation. Conceptualizes and creates template designs to the specifications of the project manager. Maintains effective relationships with user department personnel and other staff within the IS organization. This includes the communication of issues in a timely and constructive manner and the effective coordination of efforts/resources to resolve issues. Devises technical solutions that can coexist with the existing hardware and software capacity limitations and the constraints of our operating environment. Analyzes existing programs, systems, and procedures with the intent to : first, identify deficiencies and, second, make recommendations to improve performance. Educates co-workers and users on tools and system functionality. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Requires two or more years of experience in the Java application programming language, Java web development creating Java applications, servlets. Enterprise Java beans is a plus. Problem-solving experience and troubleshooting of programs written by others preferred. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Requires knowledge of object methodologies and experience in an OOA/OOD modeling language. Must have proven experience in developing applications for Windows and/or UNIX platforms. Familiarity with emerging development standards such as J2EE . Must have current and significant hands-on experience with JSP, Struts, JSP Tag Libraries, HTML, JavaScript Libraries, CSS, relational databases, and some knowledge of Session and Entity EJBs. Experience in the travel industry or with similar business applications. Expertise with IBM's Websphere Application Server (WAS); Apache's Struts framework; Intervowen Teamsite CMS, eChangeMan; large enterprise systems development/integration Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance and be able to meet deadlines.
