TITLE: *COGNOS FRAMEWORK ENGINEER*

*Technical Skills (Required)*
- High level of proficiency with Cognos 8 BI (Framework Manager,
Transformer, Metrics Server, Analysis Studio, Report Studio, Query Studio,
Go Mobile, TM1, PowerPlay). Cognos SDK is a strong plus.
- 5+ years in Cognos Framework integration with Teradata and Oracle (10G)
- Performance tuning experience required (front-end and database layers)
- Cognos and Database security experience. Expert knowledge of designing,
developing and migrating authorization schemes to BI solution.
- 2+ years Web Services experience Skills/Knowledge
*Design Skills*
- Experience with UML, use case methodologies
- Translate high-level Business Intelligence requirements to functional
definitions, and ultimately to a technical design and implementation
- Ability to understand concepts expressed in process models, data models
(logical and physical), work flow diagrams, data sourcing, and logic flow
charts.
- Familiarity with Data Modeling tools like Erwin a solid plus
*Additional Skills*
· Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree a plus.
- Familiarity with ETL tools like Informatica a solid plus.
*Responsibilities*
- Design and development of executive dashboards, key performance
indicators and other system solutions
- Development of data models, design specifications, and metadata
documentation
- Design and create complex framework manager models
- Design and development of drill-thrus, drill-downs/up
- Scheduling, distribution, bursting and refresh of reports
- Creation of documentation and procedures with system deliverables,
application design, and changes planned for production environment
*Cognos Planning*
- Responsible for strategic planning of Cognos solutions
- Full life cycle methodology including change management processes and
ensuring changes are properly tested and migrated to production. Develop,
document, and implement BI standards (development, test, and production
environments). Develop and maintain standards for BI administration and
operations including the administration, planning, scheduling, running, and
monitoring of all BI jobs, logging of all events, management of errors,
recover from failures and validation of outputs to end-user applications.
- Develop, document, and implement methodologies and guidelines for BI
technologies currently in production. Work with Development and Production
functions to implement a process for implementing methodologies. Specific
areas comprise:
- Reports: Implement best practices and standards in report development.
- Ad-hoc: Work with data architecture team to develop and implement
standardized dimensional models as appropriate.
- Information Navigation: Develop user profiles (ad-hoc researchers to
executive offices) and implement standards for all user profiles.
- Metadata: Work with the data architecture team to implement standardized
business metadata for all reports.
- Implement BI governance, which includes standards and methodologies
compliance tracking through development life cycle. Ensure BI standards
compliance at a project level (code-reviews, production turn-over).
- BI Performance Evaluation: Work with Development and Production Support
functions on an ongoing basis to evaluate and improve performance.
- Assist ID management with implementing a BI metadata management
architecture strategy and provide a repository to define, document, and
manage information (i.e. Metadata) about the BI layer.
- Collaborate with multiple teams (security, legal, etc.) to establish
standards and policies to ensure enterprise information assets are properly
secured, protected by appropriate access management and privacy controls.
- Work with other technology groups (ETL, Data Architecture) to ensure
efficiencies with data transformation and load strategies, data sharing,
data propagation, data mining and reporting.
