*Title: System Administrator* Location: Jersey City, NJ
Duration: 6+ Months Job Type: Contract to Perm Visa Status: EAD/GC/US Citizen ONLY Skills: Unix, Linux, Cisco, HP OVO Description: System Administrator experience on Unix, Linux, HP OVO ** *MUST HAVE financial domain experience.* ** *Working hours are 7 am - 7 pm (12 hours).* ** First week 3 days, next week 4 days *Major Responsibilities:* •2nd Level Production and Lab Support of Linux environments •Hardware and software installation of RHEL, SAN and specialized appliance devices •Respond to varied support requests from software development and QA personnel •Assist with smooth transition of new products from dev/QA to production •Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions in a proactive manner •Specify operational technical requirements •Interface with Platform Engineering and Operations teams to ensure Dev/QA and Operations requirements are met •Provide operational training and support for developed systems Other Responsibilities: •Provide cover for 2nd level systems support team •Flexible working time to execute changes outside of normal working hours to minimize disruption to system users Qualifications: •Minimum of five years Linux Administration experience. •Five or more years of experience within an IT organization of a large financial company. •Expert knowledge of Linux Systems administration •Minimum Bachelors degree Special Skills: •RHEL 5 including clustering, GFS, GFS2, DLM, RAID configuration •x86 based server support •Working knowledge of Oracle •Advanced scripting skills (Perl and BASH) •Hardware installation including dressing cables •Very strong communications skills, both written and oral •Excellent analytical and problem solving skills •Work independently, be willing to learn new technical skills and actively participate in a dynamic, team environment •Strong documentation skills (using MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio) •Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, both within IT and Business Units •Works well in a deadline oriented environment •Work independently, be willing to learn new technical skills and actively participate in a dynamic, team environment
