Send the resumes only on *[email protected]* Position Opening: *Senior SQL Server DBA/Consultant* Work Locations: Tallahassee, FL 32308 Anticipated Start Date: March 1, 2010 Length of Contract: 6 Months Initially with likely extensions *Rate: $55/hr on C2C* BACKGROUND A Senior SQL Server Consultant dedicated to perform the needed technical upgrade of SQL Server Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) supporting the Claim applications (CTS, CAIS, and CTSO4) and the Citizens Data Warehouse (CDW). During this engagement the consultant will also provide knowledge transfer to existing technical project staff to better prepare for future upgrade activities. This major upgrade project will be of benefit in five critical ways: Better overall CAT preparedness Viability of support and support cost containment for existing *SQL Server databases* Take advantage of improvements to performance, availability, management, and security Compliance Resolution of an existing production problem Work Hours Number of Hours Contractor Will Be Needed Weekly: 40, Working Hours (8-5, 7:30-4:30, etc): 8 — 5 DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Provide DBA leadership for planning, testing, executing and validating the SQL Server RDBMS upgrades from SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008. Activities will include reviewing the requirements, identifying associated dependencies, determining appropriate database driver upgrades as necessary and providing checklists, operational plans and knowledge transfer to DBA staff. Expert knowledge of feature sets and database administration best practices for SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008, both standard and enterprise editions, including: Mirroring, Database Replication, Transaction Log Shipping, Full Text Search, Resource Governor, Policy Management, Database Encryption, Management Data Warehouse, Query Plans, Database Auditing and Data Resource Collection Experience with designing for Database High Availability Experience with SQL Server in stand-alone and clustered environments Experience with SQL Server in a virtualized environment, preference for knowledge with VMWare Experience with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of SQL Server Experience with upgrading both OLTP and Data Warehousing databases Experience with in-place and side-by-side upgrades, including the use of multiple instances, from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 and 2008 Experience in migrating DTS packages and database maintenance plans from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 and 2008 Experience in migrating SSIS packages and database maintenance plans from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 Experience in providing leadership to other personnel in a fast paced IT development environment.
