The project is in an embedded env. Manager is preferably looking for middleware developers, with C++ , and Java. Web based technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Ajax is nice to have, but not required. This is primarily a middleware development role needing embedded development exp in a C/ C++ environment in a Unix/Linux env. *More Detailed Description:* - 10 or more years of experience in middleware-level programming of media-related applications for set-top boxes or similar consumer electronics devices, with progressive technical leadership experience. - Strong C++ programming skills and object-oriented design skills. - Extensive experience with API design and implementation, with the ability to gather and synthesize requirements, and create buy-in from stakeholders. - Experience with complex, massively multi-threaded applications running on platforms with memory and performance constraints. - Adept with application-level IPC (message-passing, shared memory, event loops, etc.). Usage of the client/server design paradigm. - Familiarity with database technologies, especially for the storage of EPG, broadcast network information, and the like. - Excellent technical communication skills for a variety of audiences: development partners, executives, marketing, management, developers, and other architects. *Experience Desired* Experience with any of the following is a huge plus but not required: - Commercial set-top box middleware stacks or standards such as OCAP. - Media transmission standards such as DVB, ATSC, and SCTE. - Conditional access technologies such as CableCARD. - UI toolkits, especially Flash. - Media codec standards such as MPEG-2, WMV, and H.264. - Other media delivery technologies such as RTSP or IPTV. - Macrovision and other copy protection standards. - Complex build infrastructure issues, library dependencies, and the like. - Networking protocols. - Descriptor languages such as XML. - Media pipeline architectures such as DirectShow. *Required Education* - BS in EE, CS, or similar technical discipline.
