Role title: BI SQL Tester (5 positions) Start date: April 1st, 2010 End date: July 31st, 2010 Location: Redmond, WA Rate: $45 - $50/hr (maximum) This project involves testing BI systems on latest SQL Server version. Responsibilities: Scope - Own end-to-end testing for components of a complex BI solutions. Install complex BI system in QA environment. Drive quality by identifying root cause of issues and working with Dev team on corrections. Plan and execute test strategy for components. Ensure appropriate test coverage (functional/database/security/performance/etc) to drive efficient defect discovery and ensure validation against functional/technical specifications. Apply business knowledge to provide impactful feedback on functional/technical specifications, effectively driving out critical issues. Recommend readiness for release to operations team for releases, patches, and hot fixes. Escalate issues appropriately and work through roadblocks constructively with project team. Communicate status. Identify and resolve issues. Partner with team members. Qualifications: B.A. / B.S. in technical degree - information systems, software engineering, computer science, or related field. 8+ years overall industry experience in project delivery of computer systems. 5+ years in QA role on complex business solutions. Advanced SQL skills - database testing, SQL administration, ability to write complex queries in SQL, data analysis, root cause analysis. SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 strong knowledge. Experience testing OLAP systems in a data warehousing environment is a must Demonstrated ability to drive quality in delivering business solutions. Experience with Microsoft software life cycle processes and testing methodologies. Excellent teaming and communication skills - e.g. collaborative approach, creative problem solving, sound conflict resolution skills.
