Position: ETL Datastage Consultant
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 6 Months+
Job Requirement:
a.. The Systems Design Analyst for the Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence
group will act as a liaison between the business and IT, in the development of
new functionality and enhancements of the existing Data Warehouse and reporting
& analytics solutions.
b.. This individual should have solid understanding of the data warehouse
development lifecycle.
c.. Thorough understanding of Database, Data Modeling in order to ensure
proper usage of these methodologies as part of the design efforts in building a
system to be put into production.
d.. This role is responsible for requirement gathering/analysis, testing.
e.. Additionally, this individual will assist in the Production Control with
strategy and deployment tactics.
Duties/Responsibilities:
a.. To gather business requirements by analyzing business processes and
develop requirement specifications.
b.. To participate in the design & development of solutions after analyzing
the business processes and requirements.
c.. Participate in the test cases review process and verifying testing
scenarios for the new/modified deliverables to validate the business
requirements.
d.. To work with the development team in guiding on new business processes
and systems.
e.. Ensure business processes are stable after a new system implementation
(or change) by understanding the impact of the changes on the process.
f.. Interface with other cross-functional Analysts to ensure enhancements
support and complement other business systems.
g.. Supports end-users in the day-to-day application of the system by
discussing and solving problems (problem resolution, running queries, providing
first-line support).
h.. Implements business process solutions to issues not addressed by formal
system releases
i.. Anticipate and respond to customer needs; self starter and customer
service oriented
j.. Works independently to make appropriate, effective decisions related to
project responsibilities and to initiate and follow-up on assigned tasks
without supervision
k.. Plan and conduct meetings/discussions, producing necessary outcomes
through a thorough, collaborative group process
l.. May be required to provide work direction and guidance to other employees
/contractors.
m.. Should work in conjunction with the Business Intelligence reporting and
Data Warehouse team to offer end-to-end Business Intelligence solutions.
n.. Translate business requirements and develop technical design for an
entire application to be run in production.
o.. Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once with the ability to
appropriately prioritize tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
a.. 7+ Years of Information Technology experience and 3-5 years of related
ETL experience required preferably with Data Stage
b.. 3+ years experienced with data warehouse concepts and implementations.
c.. Experience with a production multi-terabyte data warehouse environment is
preferred.
d.. Candidate should have strong understanding of Data Warehousing and
Business Intelligence concepts.
e.. Experience with Cognos (version 8), DataStage, and understanding of data
warehouse concepts using Star/Snow Flake schemas, and knowledge of reporting &
analytics are required.
f.. Experience with DB2 is required and excellent in depth SQL knowledge is
required.
Skills:
a.. Experience in Designing multi-terabyte Data Warehouse.
b.. Candidate should have excellent interpersonal, customer service skills,
presentation and documentation skills.
c.. Building System Requirement and design documents using Rational Tools.
d.. Data modeling using Star Schema, snow flake schema.
e.. ETL - Data Stage preferable,
f.. Complex SQL, and DB2
Preferred Qualifications:
a.. Working experience in a Healthcare industry.
b.. Java and Unix shell scripting experience. Deliverable: SUC
c.. High level design document.
d.. Data Mapping documents
e.. High level test scenarios.
