Primary Skills: WebLogic, Sun Solaris, MQ, Messaging, and F5 Description: F5 (Big IP) role It is NOT a networking role. This group uses F5 for Application performance and load balancing. So this person needs to be very Middleware and OS centric (WebLogic, Sun Solaris, MQ, Messaging, and F5). Position Description 4 year degree and 7+ years technical experience with 5+ years web experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Description: Acts in a lead technical role providing technical guidance and consultation with developers, clients and IT management for web systems environments. Provides the strategy and design for projects associated with web and e-commerce application installations, upgrades and deployments. Utilizes advanced technologies and methods to integrate web systems with existing systems, enabling the creation of new or expanded web enterprises. Develops new documentation and departmental technical procedures. Directs the gathering of performance statistics to assist in determining hardware and communication tools needed to support projected transaction volumes, response time and system availability targets. As an escalation point, provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of highly complex technical problems involving the maintenance and/or creation of web sites and e-commerce applications and their integration into the existing systems environment. Leads projects, allocates and manages resources and manages the work of less experienced staff. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan. The Engineering position is in the Internet Services Department - Infrastructure Architecture and Engineering (IAE) group. IAE Engineers are the Platform Owners of the, Web Servers, MQ Servers, F5's and other shared systems for ISD. The Engineers work with or on all the Wells Fargo retail web sites including the public site, the secure sites, and supporting back end systems. The Engineers plan and collaborate on the road map of adoption for new vendor hardware and software. The Engineers work with many of the internal ISD teams and vendors when evaluating the new and existing vendor software. The engineers work with the security and audit teams to implement and adopt the ever changing needs of each team. Basic Qualifications 10+ years experience in web systems environments which includes web application installations, upgrades, and deployment as well as any servers/ systems that support/ host web applications. Minimum Qualifications F5 - Load Balancers / Application Delivery Controllers In depth engineering experience on F5 load balancers, including an understanding of routing protocols BGP, OSPF, TCP, SSL, TLS, and application layer protocols including HTTP, SSH, SSL, and DNS. Applicant must have an understanding of load balancing strategies/ techniques, expertise in application switching / traffic management, knowledge of persistence and SSL certificates. Needs experience on F5 versions v9.3 / v9.4. (v10.1 is nice to have). Applicant needs to be able to complete basic configurations on the F5, including OS upgrades, trunking, and general troubleshooting of the devices. Advanced skills of designing, coding, and troubleshooting iRules and iControls are required. A high degree of F5 experience is required for this position. Web Servers (Sun One & Apache) In depth knowledge and hands on experience working with web servers, including the understanding of the various web protocols. The ability to explain how the web server works, describe the settings in the main configuration files, describe how the certificates work on the web server, and describe SSL termination and handshakes with load balancers and application servers Sun One administration - includes installation, upgrades, configuration, tuning, creating virtual instances, managing SSL certs, troubleshooting problems including core file analysis. Apache administration - includes installation, upgrades, configuration, tuning, managing SSL certs, troubleshooting problems. Understanding of the various modules and its benefits. Automating routine tasks such as startup / shutdown and log management. Additional desired knowledge in Sun N1, IBM Rational Clear Case, Solaris, Linux Red Hat 4.X, scripting ability in Perl and/or shell, XML, and IBM Rational Clear Quest, Knowledge of SAML 1.1 and 2.0. Applicant needs great attention to detail when creating install guides and standards for the various environments. The applicant needs excellent verbal and written communication skills when supporting the different technologies in preproduction, and when assisting the production support group. Knowledge of additional competitive technologies is desired.
