As part of the North America Infrastructure Operate team, this is a senior
Unix Systems role, supporting the NA Equities, F&O, Prime Brokerage and
Broker Dealer distributed Unix server and storage infrastructure. The role
requires hands-on technical support for all systems, and candidates are
expected to have a very deep understanding of Unix and Storage. Ability to
report status and work assignments on a weekly basis is essential. The role
requires rotating on-call coverage for 24x7 operations, and after hours work
for maintenance and break-fix. There is a global aspect to the role for
follow the Sun support and handover, coordination with and rollouts across
NA, EMEA and AP. Our complex NA footprint consists of approx. 600 Solaris,
Linux and Wintel servers, connecting to a mix of EMC and HDS SAN fabrics,
across Production, BCP, UAT and development environments.
*Key soft skill requirements:** *
- Minimum 8+ years experience with Solaris and Linux
- Must be very hands-on technical, have a passion for production support
- Very strong problem analysis and resolution skills
- Thoroughly understand protocols and internal operations of Unix
utilities/tools
- Ability to schedule resources, plan work tasks for team and provide
workflow reports to management
- Experience in financial, real-time production support environments
(trading), understanding mission critical operations and the administration
requirements around restoration of services
- Ability to train others
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to share skills and knowledge

- Hardware: Advanced level knowledge of enterprise class Solaris and
Linux hardware and software configurations, including clustered
configurations, multi-domain systems
- Strong VM-Ware and virtualization experience
