*Job Description:*
Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support client's all AIX systems.
Provides mentoring to junior level administrators and works directly with
other senior level engineers and architects to set system directives.
*Primary Technical Duties:*
- Designs, installs and maintains Enterprise Server software platform
and tools.
- Researches/recommends tools to support the successful monitoring and
operation of computer system components.
- Provides assistance to developers and DBAs on inquiries or development
problems with operating system environment.
- Performs on-call support for assigned products.
- Performs space management and capacity planning
*Education and / or Experience*
- *Prefer IBM Certified AIX System Administrator certification*
- 7 - 10 years of hands on system administration experience designing,
deploying, documenting and maintaining systems in a production environment.
- *Experience with IBM system management tools such as VIO, NIM, HMC,
Mksysb, Sysback, etc*.
- Experience with system administrative scripting
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software
issues to include SAN
- Experience with capacity planning & resource management
- Experience with syslog monitoring and analysis
- *Extensive experience configuring IBM virtualization servers (Lpar,
Wpar, VIO) *
- *Extensive experience with IBM P series hardware.*
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
*Preferred Skills and Competencies*
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with enterprise scheduling *(Control-M preferred)*
- Strong project management skills and rapid decision making skills
- Experience with Enterprise backup software *(TSM preferred) *
- *Knowledgeable in IBM Websphere*
