Position: Service Engineer
Location: San Jose and Burbank, CA
Duration: 3 months
Job Requirement:
a.. The Service Engineer works closely with the product/application architect
to determine deployment configuration (production configuration as well as
hardware configuration) and to ensure that the product architecture complies
with client's established production requirements around monitoring and
manageability.
b.. The Service Engineer is also involved in defining and managing
configurations of machine images required to deploy these
products/applications. These images are used to quickly fire up new
infrastructure for hosting the applications. This could include applications
that are migrated from other CoLos.
c.. The Service Engineer gets involved early in the life-cycle, but the key
tasks that the Service Engineer must personally drive, starts from the time the
product is ready to be deployed and till the time the production support team
takes over the production environment.
Skills:
a.. Define hardware and software specifications for a production environment
based on technical documentation of an application or product
b.. Hands-on experience with basic scripting in Linux
c.. Ability to specify, implement and oversee production environment
monitoring and troubleshooting Nagios
d.. Hands-on experience with deploying LAMP-based applications in a
production environment
e.. Working knowledge of deploying J2EE-based applications (including
configuring the deployment environment) Cfengine
f.. Prior experience working in an automated and process-driven environment
with multiple groups
g.. Ability to analyze and recommend changes to existing build/deployment
processes
