Sridhar Babu inaugurating the Dravidian University Online Education System. With the motive to spread Dravidian culture and languages across the world, Dravidian University is introducing ‘Online Education System' from this academic year. This innovative effort will take the rich cultural and linguistic heritage to the door steps of millions of Dravidians and those interested in Dravidian languages across the globe. The online system will also offer conventional courses like MBA and MCA. The content is developed following the stipulated guidelines of Distance Education Council, New Delhi. The University authorities have selected 12 Online Study Centres on trial basis. Inauguration The programme was recently inaugurated by the Minister for Higher Education, D. Sridhar Babu in the presence of Cuddapah Ramanaiah, Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University. The beauty of the content is that it allows students to learn at their pace, submit projects and assignments online and also take online examinations. Access Prospective students can access the system at ‘www.duonline.net' and register for the courses. “The system will deliver the course content in text instruction, video lectures, audio lectures, discussion forum, chat room and virtual classroom,” says Ramana Eshwaragari, CEO, Cerebrum Software Solutions that is providing the technical support. The company will implement the programme and maintain it for five years. Personalised Explaining the technical details, Mr. Ramana said that the personalised automated learning system helps students chalk out the perfect, self paced, learning schedule to meet the goals. Moreover, students can submit assignments and project works online and the faculty can evaluate the submitted reports and give their comments and grades. Features The Expert Chat feature allows direct communication between faculty and students while the Virtual Class Room helps the faculty to deliver the lectures from a real class room to the remote students through web-meeting software. Students can post their queries on the online Bulletin Board and they get to see the queries from all the students on a specific topic along with comprehensive answers. Exams Exams can be taken online and the software is designed in such a way that it will generate questions randomly and also declare the results immediately. There is also a facility of reviewing and answering skipped questions.
