Title : NETCOOL ADMINISTRATOR Location : Washington, DC Duration : 12 Months Job Description: NETCOOL ADMINISTRATOR Washington, DC (metro accessible) Multi-year contract opportunity Technology: IBM NetCool, NetIQ AppManager, Orion Network Performance Monitor, Orion Network Conf Manager, Perl, Unix Shell Scripting, Solaris sys administration, SQL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide network and systems monitoring including the implementation, development, and maintenance of network management system. Consult with management and customers regarding product feasibility and viability of network infrastructure plans and designs, and includes emerging technology and product supportability into design and implementation. Possesses, develops, and applies knowledge of trends in the monitoring area, relevant system development technologies and methodologies Integrating key production systems with Netcool for better monitoring and taking care of ad-hoc script requests to improve monitoring. Develop tools, interfaces, or wrappers to support integration across multiple management interfaces. Develop the logic, scripts, and programs for the distributed agents, clients and/or probes that collect, process, and forward events or schedule jobs to the centralized monitoring, reporting, or job scheduling systems. Responsible for high availability of Netcool systems (design/administration) Ensures technical documentation is kept up to date (run books, process diagrams, system information, technical documents) QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors and 7 years of experience Requires minimum of 3+ years of experience designing, maintaining and operating NetCool or equivalent tool within a fast-paced, multi-site environment SQL programming experience Experience with configuring IBM Netcool, NetIQ AppManager, Orion Network Performance Monitor, Orion Network Configuration Manager, and HP SiteScope. Program development using Perl, Expect, SQL, and UNIX Shell scripting. Experience in Solaris system administration. Requires minimum 4+ years of experience and knowledge of workstation and server environments (specifically Solaris and Windows) as they interface into the network. Must be proficient with network management tools to test and troubleshoot the network as needed.
