Dear Marco,

Thanks for the message. [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the Latin American and the
Caribbean Community base telecentres www.tele-centros.org. It is a support
network for practitioners of telecentres.
We did a sustainability toolkit for telecentres. Management resources,
tools, videos, games, software, business plan everything what an a
practitioner needs to workout a telecentre. You can see it in the online
resource center that somos had www.tele-centros.org. All the resources are
in Spanish, Portuguese and some in English in the online learning resource
center.
We also got a national dynamic in brazil were all the telecenters
practitioners share knowledge based on their needs and demands and plan
their activities that the network should take [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the
mailing list that they use to plan their national activities linked to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] They are planning their 3rd face to face meeting.
Mauricio Falafinha is the Board member of [EMAIL PROTECTED] representing
Brasil.

I would appreciate if you can tell me the name of the operator and integrate
in the network as well.
I also would appreciate if you can send your manual that you have done and
post it in the online learning resource center of [EMAIL PROTECTED] It will
help a lot of telecentres practitioners. If you have more resources in
Spanish and protuguese I would appreciate if you point me them.
Thanks for all your support,

Karin

Asunto: [Telecentres] Empowerment and rural telecenters - help needed

The Gems of the Earth Telecenter Network (www.gemasdaterra.org.br)
is a rural telecenter project going on in Brazil since 2001. There has been
two masters thesis works done about the project by students of the Federal
University of Minas Gerais. A paper is being published at the ICTD2006
conference.

You are welcome to collaborate with us. I started the project while living
in one of the communities for a year and a half. I also wrote
a rural telecenter manual in portuguese. I am now based at the Loyola
Center for Community Informatics in Columbia, Maryland.

Dear all,

I am planning my master's thesis on telecenters and empowerment, and would
like to conduct a field study according to some existing framework (maybe
using Alternative Evaluation Framework by Björn Sören Gigler). My question
would be whether there are (appropriate) telecenter research programs
going on especially somewhere in South America? By appropriate I mean
ongoing or starting field research programs which could be worth asking
for help or the possibility to collaborate with this issue.

Thank you a lot.

Best greetings,
Jussi Savolainen
