Discover Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne or Munich by bike!
Are you visiting Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne or Munich and want to
hire a bike? Call a Bike is a special service of Deutsche Bahn AG: a
whole fleet of superb high-tech bikes is at your service in these
four cities - and perhaps soon in others - around the clock.
If you pay by credit card or by direct debit, you can use Call a Bike
immediately - your customer number will be issued straight away.
After registering, we debit EUR 5.00 from your credit card, which
will then be deducted in full from the final hire charge as a hire
credit.
The Call a Bike principle is very simply: the CallBikes can be hired
and returned at all major crossroads by making a telephone call.
After briefly registering on the Service Hotline - 0700 0 5 22 55 22
- all you need is a telephone to enjoy this new dimension of bicycle
hire.
Each CallBike is protected by an electronic lock that can be opened
with a numerical code. If the green light on the lock blinks, the
bike is free and it is yours to use. To obtain the valid code for
your CallBike, simply dial the telephone number in the red circle on
the cover of the lock and enter the code in the lock display.
To return your bike, take it to the nearest major crossing within the
core area and lock it to a fixed object, (e.g., to a traffic sign or
a bicycle stand but, please, not to a traffic light). Open the
protective cover and, after pressing the button on the lock, you will
see the question: "Rückgabe Ja/Nein" (Return Yes / No). Press "Ja".
Now you see the receipt code, which you need to return your bicycle.
To make the return call, dial the number circled in red on the cover
of the lock and give Call a Bike the receipt code and the location of
your CallBike (the names of both roads at the crossing).
The standard rate for Call a Bike is 7 cents per minute but max. EUR
15.00 per day (24 hours). After 24 hours have elapsed, the time
charge of 7 cents per minute begins again. The BahnCard rate is 5
cents per minute. Charging begins from the time of your initial
hiring call to the return call. If you hire your CallBike for a
number of days, e.g., a whole week, we automatically charge you from
the fourth to the seventh day a lump-sum of just EUR 60.00.
