New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg received the Pathfinder Award
on Friday from the Kennedy School of Government's Leadership for a
Network World (LNW) program.

Bloomberg was honored for starting New York City's 311 hotline and
other innovative programs. He told the Kennedy School audience that
technology has the power to "close the gap between what we know needs
to be done, and what actually gets done."

Bloomberg also recently appointed Avi Duvdevani -- CIO of the New
York City Housing Authority -- to the New York City Broadband
Advisory Committee. The committee, said Bloomberg in a letter to
Duvdevani, "will provide important guidance on broadband deployment
and trends in New York City to ensure that our city remains in the
forefront of information technology developments. It will also
provide valuable input to the ongoing work of the Telecommunications
Policy Advisory Group."

Other Mayoral Representatives on the Committee are:

     * Mitchel Ahlbaum, general counsel and deputy commissioner for
telecommunications services, DoITT
     * Shaun M. Belle, president and CEO, Mount Hope Housing Company
     * Thomas Dunne, vice president of public affairs, policy and
communications, Verizon New York
     * John J. Gilbert III, executive vice president/ COO, Rudin
Management Company.
