Basically, you can treat jQuery selector as an extension of CSS. jQuery selector is more feature rich and you can find more details from
http://docs.jquery.com/Selectors You do not really need to be familiar with jQuery because Tellurium automatically generates the jQuery selectors for you. But understanding jQuery does help you to create more concise composite locators in Tellurium.
