Now on this box I did not have firefox - so I downloaded it (version 3.6.3 - the latest) and it started complaining about not able to create a firefox profile - googling for this took me to the selenium FAQ - http://selenium-grid.seleniumhq.org/faq.html#when_starting_firefox_i_get_java_javalangruntimeexception_firefox_refused_shutdown_while_preparing_a_profile I tried to resolve it using the instructions there - (downloaded systeinternals handle.exe/pskill.exe to find out and kill the firefox daemons - but did not work - cleaning up temp/rebooting did not help...
