I can understand how bearer traffic (and an L3 PDN) can be easily
appropriately fragmented by the EPC-facing router with correct VLAN MTUs,
and the EPC can function (and does) on a 1496 MTU.

For an L2 PDN, though, what is the mechanism for setting/knowing the actual
MTU size? In this instance, we would like to be able to pass a full L2 1500
byte packet, if the functionality is there.

Not impossible to live without it, but there's an odd lack of documentation
on this — the manuals suggest fairly large packet availability, but no
instructions.
