Hi Thierry,
Container filter and sorts set Request attributes that are then read by Jahia when loading page content. The container ranking is used only when there are no conflicting sorting attributes passed. So you must remove the sorting options to have the default ranking behavior

In fact, the use of a ContainerFilterByCategories on a containerList prevents from ordering the containerlist
manually with the containerlistproperties button. I don't know exactly why, and it seems there's no solution yet.

If you don't want to use the jahia sort handler, you can set it to null in the request by doing somethink like this:
request.setAttribute("yourcontainerlist_sort_handler",null);
