Hello,

Looks like more an "user history" (such as on Amazon - check end of page when you browse Amazon) rather than some breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs definition: http://www.usabilityfirst.com/glossary/main.cgi?function=display_term&term_id=786 :
"On websites, a form of navigation where the current location within the website is indicated by a list of pages above this page in the hierarchy, up to the main page. For example, if you were browsing the products at a department store, you might see the following hierarchy when you're on the Sneakers page:
Home > Products > Clothes > Shoes > Sneakers
Each of the categories above the current page is usually a link to the corresponding category page.
The term "breadcrumbs" is a reference to the Hansel and Gretel tale where they leave breadcrumbs as they wander the forest so they can find their way home. The metaphor is imperfect because the breadcrumbs do not represent the actual path the user took, but instead the optimal path from the home page to the current page in the hierarchy."

So , as mentionned: "The metaphor is imperfect because the breadcrumbs do not represent the actual path the user took, but instead the optimal path from the home page to the current page in the hierarchy"

Regarding a "user session page view history", Jahia does not include such a feature yet... A new taglib would need to be developed (or a modified version of the current page-path one). But I doubt you may use it at the top of the page. For example what if the user follows a cyclic loop on your site, what if he only selects internal links (and no direct links) ... or mixing direct and indirect links... The path will become fast unreadable, very long and finally will be similar to a "page history".

Would it not be more easy to just put a small icon near to the internal page links in the menus so that the user knows that it will be redirected to another section (e.g a similar icon than the Windows files redirect icon).

Cheers
Stphane

This question is begging me for some time already, but I have no solution yet.

In the page-path at the top of my workarea (or breadcrumbs) I can always see the page path of the current page:

Home -> First Level -> Second Level -> PageXY

In my left navigation box I do not have only direct pages, but also linked pages. If for instance I have under "Second Level" a link to a page "LinkedPage" and I click on it, I would also like to see the navigation path:

Home -> First Level -> Second Level -> LinkedPage

But instead of this I see the navigation path of where the "LinkedPage" exists as direct page:

Home -> OtherLevels -> LinkedPage

Would it be possible to show the first navigation path for linked pages?

I'm not sure if I have asked this already. Sorry if I did, but then I just can't find the message anymore, and the search engine on gmane doesn't seem to go far back in the archive...

Bye,
Benjamin Papez
