I haven't seen this voiced on the list yet, so I don't know if anyone else shares my
concern. The addition of 'gt','le' and so on
seems a bit overkill for our little language. When I first learned the TT syntax and
found that it had '==' but not 'eq', I figured
this was a conscious design choice to keep the language simple. While TMTOWTDI is
great for Perl, I'd think that limiting the
number of 'ways to do it' would be more suitable to the TT language. Personally I
would like to see the operator synonyms
('gt','lt'....) re-removed from the TT syntax. I'm not not crying for the mantra of
"simplicity is elegance"...I do code Perl,
after all :) - I just want to see if the TT community can show some restraint on
growing the complexity of the TT language.

Subject: Re: [Templates] TAGS and parsing

To chime in on this thread... I agree with Perrin that ">" is too simple
to be used as a closing delimiter, but if 'lt', 'gt', 'ge', and 'le' are
going to stay, I would like them to at the very least pay attention to the
CASE setting. We actually use 'le' as a variable name in a number of our
templates and 2.04d had some problems with that ;-)
